“4 tips to train your mind with healthy thoughts”

Building awareness and understanding the importance of our thoughts

There are several scientific researches that actually prove that the kind of thought we create either positive or negative ones are are potential triggers to cells chemical reactions or responses, called neurotransmitters, which are basically messengers that will deliver a type of message to another part of the body. We`ll focus at general terms, on the impact our thoughts have on our body, for instance negative thinking activate and deliver neurochemicals such as: cortisol hormone related with anxiety symptoms, stress and tiredness, just to mention a few, while  positive thoughts will deliver another substances such as: dopamine, serotonin which brings to your body more energy and enthusiasm.

So, basically our body is reacting to the thoughts that daily run through our mind.  By realizing this, are we aware of the kind of thoughts we create? Is there anything we can do to change the way we think and be more in charge of our emotions?

4 tips to break Unhealthy thoughts patterns- and let the light in:

  • 1* – Be aware of your thoughts

One of the tips to be mindful is to be aware of our thoughts by recognizing and accepting what kind of thoughts are crossing your mind by self- introspection-Make yourself questions such as: What kind of thoughts am I bearing in my mind? Or how they make me feel? How they encourage me to act? How this thought is affecting me?

  • 2*- Try to stay indifferent, contemplate them:

Try to be indifferent- not adding any emotion- How can we follow this advice? Is it possible?  Along with the training you`ll be introduced through mindfulness practice and breathing to unplug your mind and not judging the thoughts as they came out  from your mind, contemplate them, and accept them. Let me be clear enough in this last part, by accepting them I meant not forced them to go away, if doing so, you will only cause them to fix even more and will be triggering emotions, so let them pass away, the more you resist them, the more they’ll become strong, but commit to change it.

  • 3*- Replace them.

Yes, replace the thoughts, you`ll be required to face your own resistance, which might be the fixed mindset, the same thoughts that you`re used to think, that blur your mind and- those obsessive thoughts that are reluctant to turned off. It might be helpful to set up a thought list replacing, because your mind wouldn’t be able to replace an unhealthy thought unless you provide a substitutive thought. It works out this way: it can’t replace something with nothing, so be prepared. This will require time and practice and of course the desire to change.

  • 4* Exercise Faith, “even if it were a desire to believe”:

As  Alma taught us in Alma 32:27, we might be tempted to try it all at once, but changes take time, even more training our minds to create new connections, and build a healthy thought pattern. But everything starts with a desire to believe we can change, be sure that The Lord will be with us. “Seeking the light is in our spiritual DNA”.  Elder Mark A.Bragg

So, If we try and put in practice these steps we might be in a better position to gain perspective and change the way we create thoughts for the better, building a happier life.
